EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000). It’s a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For other urgent medical issues, go to an Emergency Department.

Our Emergency Departments are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week:

The Lismore Base Hospital Emergency Department (ED) is a comprehensive Level 5 Emergency Department, and is the designated regional Trauma centre for Northern NSW.

Our ED provides specialist services in Emergency Medicine and trauma care for all patients, including adults, children and babies, as well as expert emergency consultation and advice to our smaller hospitals within the Local Health District.

Our Emergency Department Short Stay Unit (EDSSU) provides short stay or overnight admissions for patients who are required to stay in hospital for longer than four hours, but are likely to be able to return home within 24 hours.

Lismore Base Hospital works closely with tertiary hospitals in Queensland, with an onsite rooftop helipad allowing patients to be transferred to and from Lismore Base Hospital via helicopter if required.

Hours of Service: 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
