Our Emergency Departments are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week:


The Needle Syringe Program (NSP) is a public health measure aimed at reducing the spread of blood-borne viruses such as HIV, Hep B and Hep C among people who inject drugs (PWID).

Lismore Harm Reduction Services include:

  • Drop-in service Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 12pm; closed Public Holidays
  • Free access to a range of injecting equipment, information, support, referral
  • 24 hour Free Fitpack Machine and Community Sharps bin available at Lismore Base Hospital (LBH) - near Ambulance bay on Little Uralba Street. Only 5 x 1ml and 5 x 5ml packs available
  • 24-hour sharps safe disposal bin at the NSP site
  • 24-hour Fitpack vending machine ($2 /pack) located at Lismore Base Hospital NSP site: 50 Hunter Street, Lismore. Equipment available: 5 x 1ml pack; 4 x 5ml pack; 2 x wheel filters; 7 x 10ml water ampules for injection
  • Free chutes available from Goonellabah Child and Family, 37 Oliver Avenue Goonellabah, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4.30pm, 5 x 1ml pack; 4 x 5ml pack.

Free injecting equipment, including some bulk, is also available from:

  • Lismore Sexual Health Service: 4 Shepherd Lane, Lismore. Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (closed 12.45pm to 1.30pm each day, and Public Holidays).
  • ACON: Suite 4P Conway Court, 17 Conway Street, Lismore (next to Lismore Post Office). Open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm; closed Public Holidays.
