In an emergency, always call triple zero (000). It’s a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For other urgent medical issues, go to an Emergency Department.

Our Emergency Departments are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week:

Mental Health

Our Mental Health Services care for adults, adolescents, and children and work with you and your family or carers to determine what options are available to help you recover.

Depending on your individual needs, you may be best supported through our community mental health services or referred to other community-based services. Some people may need a short time in one of our mental health inpatient units.

There are two Acute Adult Inpatient Mental Health Units, one in Tweed Heads and one in Lismore. There is one Sub-Acute Adult Inpatient Mental Health Unit in Byron Bay. There is one Adolescent Mental Health Inpatient Unit, and one Older Persons Mental Health Inpatient Unit, both in Lismore.

Mental Health Line 1800 011 511

If you need mental health care, please go to a community mental health service during usual working hours, or phone the Mental Health Line on 1800 011 511, or go to your nearest hospital Emergency Department. If you have an emergency, phone triple zero (000) immediately.

The Mental Health Line is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will connect you with the right care for your individual situation, no matter where you live in NSW. It is not a telephone counselling service.
