In alignment with the strategic vision to promote an evidence-engaged workforce, the Northern NSW LHD Research Office in collaboration with a team of evidence-based experts have developed a 5-part seminar series on Evidence-Based Practice (EBP).

The series covered the core elements of EBP, including the 5 A’s: Ask, Acquire, Appraise, Apply and Assess. Please find links to the recordings and workbook below:

Session 1: What is evidence-based practice and why is it important? Overview of the 5 steps of evidence-based practice. Step 1 asking a well-defined and answerable question.

Session 2: Step 2: Acquiring the evidence: Identifying the best evidence to answer your question and how/where to find the evidence. An overview of NNSW LHD library, services and support.

Session 3: Step 3: Appraising the evidence: determining the trustworthiness (believability) of the evidence.

Session 4: Step 4: Interpreting and applying the evidence: Interpreting research findings and their significance.

Session 5: Step 5: Assessing your skills as an evidence-based healthcare professional: how effective and efficient are you at evidence-based practice? Identifying ways you can implement evidence-based practice in the care you provide.

 

Workbook:

A workbook has been developed to accompany the recordings and can be used to support you on your evidence-based journey! The workbook contains additional information to support your learning and includes templates to assist you tackle your own clinical question.
