Research is a fundamental feature of high performing and innovative organisations. In health, it promotes a culture of innovation and excellence, the implementation of current, evidence-based, best practice, the contribution to the knowledge base, the faster uptake of new evidence, improvements in patient health outcomes, and a sense of contribution to the delivery of high quality health care for current and future patients. Importantly, a research immersed workforce is integral to meeting the challenges of providing excellent health care to the dynamic, geographically wide and socioeconomically diverse Northern New South Wales (NSW) population.
