EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000). It’s a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For other urgent medical issues, go to an Emergency Department.

Our Emergency Departments are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week:

Adults

We provide treatment to adults who live permanently* in the Northern NSW Local Health District and;

  • are eligible for Medicare, and
  • are aged 18 years or older with a
    • Health Care Card; or
    • Pensioner Concession Card; or
    • Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (Please note, holders of only a State Seniors Card are not eligible)

*Your permanent address is the address listed on your concession card. Please contact Centrelink to update your address on the card if necessary.

Children and Adolescents

We provide treatment to children (0-16 years), and adolescents (up to 18 years) at school or TAFE (full-time) who are:

  • eligible for Medicare; and
  • normally reside within the boundary of the Northern NSW Local Health District
  • Additional eligibility criteria may apply for some specialist services, such as orthodontic services.

If you are experiencing a dental emergency, you can access care without a concession card.

We accept referrals from Community Health, Allied Health, local hospitals, external organisations such as drug and alcohol facilities, aged care facilities, Out-of-Home-Care organizations and homeless shelters, or self-referrals.
