EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000). It’s a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For other urgent medical issues, go to an Emergency Department.

Our Emergency Departments are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week:

In a Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) the woman knows the midwife and back up midwives who provide care throughout her pregnancy, labour, birth and postnatal period. This model of care is available at Tweed, Murwillumbah, Byron and Lismore Hospitals.

Midwifery Group Practice is a continuity of care model for pregnant women who are allocated a known midwife, who provides individualised care and follows the woman across the interface of community and hospital services, through her antenatal (pregnancy), intra partum (labour and birth) and early postnatal journey up to 6 weeks post birth. Two midwives are present for the birth. Medical advice and care is available at all times.
