EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000). It’s a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For other urgent medical issues, go to an Emergency Department.

Our Emergency Departments are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week:

Primary School Principals and Directors of Child Care Centres should notify their local Public Health Unit (PHU) as soon as possible after they become aware that a child enrolled at the school or facility is suffering from one of the following vaccine preventable diseases:

  • Diphtheria
  • Mumps
  • Poliomyelitis
  • Haemophilus influenzae Type b (Hib)
  • Meningococcal disease
  • Rubella (“German measles”)
  • Measles
  • Pertussis (“whooping cough”)
  • Tetanus
To notify, phone the NSW Public Health Unit access line: 1300 066 055

Primary School Principals and Directors of Child Care Centres are also encouraged to seek advice from their local PHU when they suspect an infectious disease outbreak is affecting their school or centre, such as outbreaks of a gastrointestinal or respiratory illness.

There are a number of excellent resources to guide response to outbreaks in childcare facilities:
