We provide the following free and confidential services to people who have experienced violence, abuse and neglect.

Aboriginal Domestic Violence Counselling Service

The service works with Aboriginal women and families living in the who are experiencing domestic and family violence. The service identifies what support is required through an initial assessment and goal setting.  Support is short term and can include advocacy, assistance with housing, court support, safety planning and referral to other specialist services.

Access Criteria:

Aboriginal women or women who have an Aboriginal partner or children and who live in the Richmond Network. Women with or without children are eligible for this service.

Referral:

  • Referrals can be made via the following channels:
  • Self-referral;
  • Referral from Aboriginal specific agencies;
  • Referrals from Government and appropriate Non-Government agencies; or
  • Referrals from families (with permission from client).
  • If the service has capacity the referral is allocated at the point of referral. Where there is no current capacity, other service options are recommended.
Child Protection Counselling Service

The Child Protection Counselling Service provides services to parents/carers/children where physical, emotional abuse, neglect or domestic violence has been confirmed by Family and Community Services.

Hours: 8.30am-5.00pm Monday – Friday

Access Criteria:

This service accepts referrals from Family and Community Services and the Joint Child Protection Response Program. There is no cost to this service. Other services may refer to the Child Protection Counselling Service in accordance with the Child Protection Counselling Service Standards and Guidelines.

Domestic Violence Counselling Service

The Domestic Violence Counselling Service provides an evidenced based counselling and advocacy service that will work towards ensuring the safety and wellbeing of victims of domestic violence and their children, while addressing the short and long term consequences of experiencing domestic violence.

Joint Child Protection Response Program

The Joint Child Protection Response Program (JCPRP) is an interagency partnership between NSW Health, NSW Family and Community Services (FACS) and the NSW Police Force to respond to the most serious cases of child abuse and neglect. This program, formerly known as the Joint Investigation Response Team (JIRT), operates across Northern NSW Local Health District.

Out-of-Home Care Health Pathway

The Out-of-Home Care Health Pathway provides assistance to children and young people to receive comprehensive health assessment and follow up at the time of entry to Out-of-Home Care. Referrals are received from Family and Community Services.

Sexual Assault Service

Our sexual assault service provides a 24-hour crisis response team for children, young people and adults who have experienced sexual assault, indecent assault, or attempted sexual assault.

We also provide counselling and forensic medical assessment and care immediately after sexual assault and in the following weeks and months.

We provide information and support for non-offending parents, carers, partners, siblings or family members of children or adults who have been affected by sexual assault.

We can also provide follow up support, advocacy and information about the legal process, and consultation and advice to professionals.

Children and young people must be referred through the Joint Child Protection Response Program (JCPRP). Adults can self-refer or be referred by police, medical staff or other services.
