As part of the People Matter Employee Survey in 2023, thousands of staff from all types of roles, across all our sites, told us how they felt about being part of the NNSWLHD team.

Prize money was awarded to sites and work departments with high survey participation rates.

Last year’s prize winners enjoyed spending their winnings on a range of team-based activities and items such as end of year celebrations with lucky door prizes and catering for work events. We are pleased to feature three of the winning facilities.

Ballina District Hospital: held a site-wide Christmas lunch with all the trimmings, and also invited the United Hospital Auxiliary and the community advisory group members. There were also lucky door prizes and raffles as part of the event.

Byron Central Hospital: purchased a new BBQ, utensils and aprons for staff gatherings. A BBQ lunch with salad was held to celebrate Christmas and another at the staff forum.

Casino and District Memorial Hospital: made Christmas hampers for each hospital department and Community Health which were delivered by the Acting EO/DON and DDON. The hampers included fruit cakes, biscuits, chocolates, pretzels, rice crackers, and lollies for all staff to enjoy over the Christmas period. They also held a Christmas lunch celebration for all staff.

The People Matter Employee Survey will be open again from 19 August to 13 September 2024. It is every staff member’s chance to have a say about workplace culture. The results are reviewed by the Executive Leadership team and Senior Management at each facility and go to informing culture and workforce initiatives for our health service.
