EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

To commemorate National Palliative Care Week, the LHD’s end-of-life committee delivering a six-month program of End-of-Life Essentials (EOLE) education.

The training resources are aimed at all clinicians who provide end-of-life care.

Bruce Adams, Nurse Educator, Specialist Palliative Care Services said the topics covered include communication, terminology, and teamwork in end-of-life care.

“We are presenting the six education sessions face to face in various locations across our LHD. These education sessions are being delivered each month until October,” Bruce said.

“The sessions have generated great conversations and consideration to how we provide end of life care across all health disciplines.”
