EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Planned surgeries at Casino and District Memorial Hospital will be temporarily moved to nearby Lismore Base Hospital to allow for emergency air-conditioning repairs to the operating theatre.

The emergency work is expected to be completed in early June and will impact up to 160 people who will have their planned surgery moved to Lismore Base Hospital. This will help to ensure no operations will need to be delayed.

All other services at Casino Hospital will remain unchanged.

The temporary change will not impact any services at Lismore Base Hospital.

NNSWLHD Clinical Operations Lynne Weir apologised for the inconvenience the temporary change will cause to patients awaiting their planned surgery.

“Our staff are contacting all patients who have planned surgery at Casino over the coming eight weeks to notify them of a change in their operation location,” Lynne said.

“We will work with impacted individuals to address any concerns they have about the movement of their planned surgery and remain committed to minimising disruption to our surgical services during this time.”
