EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Emergency departments are located at:

Casino and District Hospital is opening its doors to the public on Saturday 15 March from 9am to 1pm, offering a great opportunity to explore the vital role the hospital plays in the community’s health.

Visitors will gain behind-the-scenes access to hospital facilities, learn about essential healthcare services and connect with health professionals dedicated to providing exceptional and compassionate care every day.

The Hospital’s Executive Officer/Director of Nursing and Midwifery Sandra Vidler said the open day aimed to strengthen ties with the community, providing an insight into hospital care.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the community,” Sandra said.

“This is a chance for people to see how healthcare works in practice, access valuable health information and enjoy a fun day with their families.”

The Open Day will feature guided tours of hospital areas, free health checks such as diabetes screening, and information stalls covering healthy eating, falls prevention and quitting smoking.

Families can enjoy fun activities such as face painting and emergency services displays, while a careers expo will showcase careers in the healthcare sector.

“Whether you’re exploring career options, seeking health advice or simply curious about how hospitals operate, this is a day for everyone,” Sandra said.

“Bring your family and join us for a day of discovery, connection and fun.”
