In December 2024, Nancy Martin wrapped up 14 years as Executive Officer/Director of Nursing of the District’s Multi-Purpose Services (MPS) – a role she describes as a valuable opportunity for professional growth.
In her own words:
As I reflect on my journey, it is hard to believe that I began in the newly created EO/DON role for the three MPS sites—Kyogle, Nimbin and Urbenville—back in early 2011, just as the MPS network structure was taking shape. The amalgamation of these three sites under one manager came with its challenges. It was a period of change, but through hard work and dedication from everyone involved, we navigated those challenges and gradually formed a cohesive team. Over time, strong connections between the sites began to flourish.
In 2016, with the opening of the new Bonalbo MPS, we were thrilled to welcome this facility into our team, adding even more strength to the network.
Looking back over my 14 years in this role, I am incredibly proud of what we've accomplished together. Some key highlights include:
2014: winning the Quality Award for the Active Kyogle Project.
2019: receiving the Meryl Brown Award for Excellence in Management and Leadership.
2020: being honoured with the NSW Premier's Bushfire Emergency Citation.
But above all, what fills me with the greatest pride is the outstanding service provided by the dedicated and compassionate staff across all our MPS sites. Our nurses, doctors, allied health professionals, community and support staff have worked tirelessly as a team to provide high-quality emergency care, acute care, aged care and essential community services. The warmth and professionalism you all bring to your roles make our MPS sites not only places of excellence but also highly enjoyable and supportive workplaces.
As I move on from this role, I carry with me a deep sense of gratitude and admiration for each of you. The work you do and the care you provide to your communities are truly exceptional, and I have been privileged to be part of this journey with you.
Thank you for your hard work, dedication and unwavering commitment to the MPS Network. I wish you all continued success in the future.”
Nancy’s experience is still a part of the District, she’s now Nurse Unit Manager at Kyogle MPS.
