EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

There have been two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Byron Bay area, which are not recorded in NNSWLHD confirmed cases today. These cases are both no longer in the region.

Venue of concern

Anyone who attended the following venue is considered a casual contact and needs to be tested and isolate until they receive a negative result. You need to get tested again on day 6 after your last contact with the COVID-19 positive person. If you feel well, you do not need to self-isolate while waiting for this test result.

  • Elements of Byron Bay, 144 Bayshore Drive Byron Bay.
    Monday 1 November, Tuesday 2 November, Wednesday 3 November and Thursday 4 November.

  • The COVID-19 testing clinic is open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm at Byron Central Hospital,
    54 Ewingsdale Road, Ewingsdale
  • QML Drive through at Cavanbah centre Byron Bay will also be open tomorrow Sunday 7 November 9am – 4pm.

Even if you are fully vaccinated you should get tested and isolate immediately if you have even the mildest of COVID-19 symptoms - a slightly runny nose, a scratchy or sore throat or generally feeling under the weather.
