Staff at Urbenville MPS are doing their bit to help start conversations around mental health and suicide prevention. Thanks to their flash TradeMutt ‘Where’s Wallaby’ scrubs, the team are boosting connection among their colleagues and patients.
“We find wearing the scrubs makes us all feel brighter and starts positive conversations about mental health between ourselves, and with our patients and residents at Urbenville,” said Robyn Eames, Nurse Unit Manager.
“Admitting that we’re finding life hard is often difficult. You know, we’re meant to be the tough ones,” said Robyn.
The colourful scrubs have a triple advantage:
- brighten the day of patients and residents
- get people talking about depression and suicide risk
- their sales support suicide prevention.
While the message of mental health is a serious one, the scrubs are fun and bright. Staff feel great wearing them, residents love working out what’s on them and patients in Emergency ask what they’re about. A good result all round, really.
“The scrubs create an upbeat workplace which goes a long way to reducing the risk of stress and depression,” Robyn said.
TradeMutt is a social impact workwear company started by two tradies concerned about depression and suicide risk amongst the people they work with. They wanted their funky workwear to help start a conversation and make the issue impossible to ignore.
