EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Hundreds to participate in cycling event to raise awareness of organ donation
Published: 25 Jul 2022

Residents from the NSW North Coast and South East Queensland will come together to participate in a social cycling event to raise awareness for organ and tissue donation on Sunday 31 July.

The Cycle for Life caters to all levels of fitness. Participants can choose to participate in the 100km or 50km cycle, or even opt for a family cycle or walk.

“The Cycle for Life is not a race, but a fun day out for the family, and a great opportunity to bring the community together in support of a very important topic,” said Howard Clare, Donation Specialist Nurse for the NSW Organ & Tissue Donation Service.

Registering is easy – it only takes one minute at donatelife.gov.au or just three taps in your Medicare app.

Joining the Australian Organ Donor Register gives hope to the 1750 Australians and their families that are currently waiting for a life-saving or life-changing organ or tissue transplant.

“Registration is important because it leaves families in no doubt of their loved one’s decision to be an organ and tissue donor,” Howard said.

DonateLife Week runs from Sunday 24 July to Sunday 31 July 2022, and is the national awareness week for organ and tissue donation.
