EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

In small towns and villages, your workplace often feels like a family.

And in our Multi-Purpose Services (MPS) it’s quite literally a family affair with multiple generations of healthcare workers under one roof.

At Urbenville MPS, Gail Card works as a Registered Nurse/Midwife, following in the footsteps of her grandmother. Jean Ellevsen is a fellow Registered Nurse at Urbenville, whose daughter Nicole is Nurse Manager at Kyogle MPS.

At Urbenville MPS, administration officer Rhonda Barrett (previously at Kyogle and Bonalbo MPSs), enjoys working with her daughter Annaleise who started as a casual cleaner in 2022, has been an Assistant In Nursing (AIN) for 12 months, and is currently in her third year at Southern Cross University completing her RN studies.

April and Kelly-Jo McAuley, another mother-daughter duo, have been members of the Urbenville HealthShare team for the past five-and-half years, working in the residential aged care facility. Kelly-Jo has taken up her AIN certificate and has completed placements at Urbenville MPS.

Heather Jones, Enrolled Nurse (EN) at Urbenville is also working alongside her daughter Katie Grant-Jones, with Katie currently working as an AIN having started her EN course at Queensland TAFE in October 2023.

Talk about home grown expertise! What an amazing contribution and legacy for these local communities.
