EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

It’s not every day someone like Kate Willock crosses your path.

Last year, Kate’s contributions to the District were recognised when she was named Staff Member of the Year at the 2024 Northern NSW Local Health District Quality Awards.

Integrated Prevention and Response to Violence, Abuse and Neglect (IPARVAN) Manager Nicole Ashby said Kate was known for her dedication, innovation and unwavering commitment to care, which places patients at the centre.

“As the leader of the Perinatal Substance Use Service, she significantly improved patient care and treatment outcomes by transforming service delivery," Nicole said.

“Over the years, her ability to foster collaboration among her colleagues has forged lasting partnerships between health professionals, which continue to benefit patients.

“Kate’s impact on the District will not be forgotten, with her legacy of teamwork, leadership and compassion continuing to inspire her former work colleagues.”

Before she left, Kate held an in-depth conversation with her colleagues, offering a personal insight into her professional approach to working with people experiencing domestic violence. The conversation was recorded and the District’s Integrated Prevention and Response to Violence, Abuse and Neglect team will showcase the video in training and development sessions for staff.
