EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

If you’re planning to celebrate New Year’s Eve, keep these simple reminders in mind for a COVID-safe celebration:

  • Don’t attend any events if you feel unwell.
  • Celebrate with a few close friends, rather than in large groups
  • Catch up outside if you can. If you are inside, open windows for ventilation
  • If you're heading to a venue, wear your mask, check-in, and stay physically distant from others

You can get tested at any of our hospital testing clinics in Tweed, Byron, Lismore and Grafton seven days a week. Other clinics may have reduced hours, so please check before attending.

Find your closest testing clinic on the NSW Government website or contact your GP.
