EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

COVID-19 Update: 25 October 2021
Published: 25 Oct 2021

Northern NSW Local Health District urges the community to continue to get vaccinated and tested and follow COVID safe practices to reduce the risk of catching and spreading COVID-19.

While one new case of COVID-19 was reported in the daily total for Northern NSW Local Health District to 8pm 24 October, subsequent testing determined it was not a positive case. This will be reflected in reconciled data tomorrow.

As vaccination rates rise, please be mindful that there may be vulnerable members of our community who cannot be vaccinated against COVID-19.

It’s important that everyone continues to follow COVID-safe practices when out and about. Remember to wear your mask where you can’t socially distance, wash hands or use hand sanitizer often, and check-in with QR codes wherever you go.

All new cases are investigated, and contact tracing is continuing to identify close contacts who are most at risk of exposure as quickly as possible. These individuals are contacted as a priority, and asked to get tested and self-isolate immediately to reduce any risk of transmission in the community.

The rising vaccination rates and current movement restrictions are taken into account as part of the contact tracing process, along with precautionary measures such as masks, COVID-safe plans and social distancing.

As a result, the number of locations assessed as public venues of concern by the Public Health teams may continue to reduce as the pandemic response evolves.

If and when there are any exposure sites identified as being of risk to the general public, these will be listed on the NSW Government website.

We encourage people to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as they are able to. Find available bookings at the Australian Government’s COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic Finder, or you can also call Health Direct on 1800 571 155 for assistance to book.
