In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

One new case of COVID-19 has been reported for Northern NSW Local Health District to 8pm 17 October.

This case is in the Lismore Local Government Area, is linked to an existing cluster and has been isolating throughout their infectious period.

There have now been 99 total cases reported in NNSWLHD since the Delta outbreak began in Sydney on 16 June.

Anyone with even the slightest symptoms should get tested as soon as they feel unwell. There are more than 500 COVID-19 testing locations across NSW. Find a clinic at COVID-19 testing clinics or contact your GP.

Today a new vaccination milestone will be reached in Northern NSW, with NSW Health vaccination clinics administering their 70,000th COVID-19 vaccination.

This achievement follows a record week of vaccine doses administered by Northern NSW Local Health District clinics, with 5,800 doses being provided in the week ending Sunday 17 October.

"Thank you to all our health teams working in our clinics and behind the scenes to provide this critical service to our community over the past 10 months," Lynne Weir, Acting Chief Executive Northern NSW Local Health District, said.

"Thank you also to our communities right across the District for getting vaccinated to help protect not only themselves, but their friends and loved ones and our broader region.

"We know that completing both doses of either Astra Zeneca, Pfizer or Moderna can reduce a person’s chance of hospital admission and death by around 90%, as well as reducing the spread of the virus to others."

Today and tomorrow the mobile vaccination clinic is visiting the Minjungbal Aboriginal Cultural Centre in Kirkwood Road, South Tweed Heads from 10am – 4pm. The clinic is providing Pfizer vaccinations to anyone aged 12 and over, with no appointments required. Aboriginal people are strongly encouraged to attend.

This clinic is accessible and inclusive for people with a disability, and reasonable adjustments can be made to accommodate access to the clinic if required.

The clinic is a partnership between NNSWLHD, Bulgarr Ngaru Medical Aboriginal Corporation and NSW Police.
