Northern NSW Local Health District is urging residents in the Wardell and Cabbage Tree area to be alert for COVID-19 symptoms following the detection of fragments of the virus in sewage samples from the Wardell sewage treatment plant on 11 November.
Sewage testing can help provide early warning of undetected infections in an area.
There are no known cases in the Wardell and Cabbage Tree area.
We strongly encourage people in the area to remain vigilant and get tested for even the mildest of symptoms.
Even if you are fully vaccinated you should get tested and isolate immediately if you have symptoms such as a runny nose, a scratchy or sore throat or generally feeling unwell.
There are more than 500 COVID-19 testing locations across NSW. Find a clinic at COVID-19 testing clinics or contact your GP.
A list of the latest sewage detections in NSW is available on the NSW Government website and more information about the NSW Sewage Surveillance Program is available on the NSW Health website.
