EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

This year, Mental Health Australia’s theme for World Mental Health Day on 10 October is Connect with your community.

The Community Mental Health team in Lismore is doing just that all year round, with an exciting program of community activities each week.

Led by Community Mental Health Peer Worker Nerida Lawson, a program of community peer group activities is offered. These range from healthy cooking groups to art therapy, yoga, pickleball, ukelele classes, ten pin bowling, gardening and even regular coffee groups in Lismore, Ballina and Casino.

Nerida is also the driving force behind the annual Mental Health Wellbeing Day, which will be held on Thursday 30 October at the Lismore Quad.

The free event gives an opportunity to people living with mental illness to connect with peers, services and others in a supportive environment, with entertainment, games and food stalls included in the fun.
