EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We are continuing to support our staff and communities affected by the extreme weather and flooding events in Northern NSW.

 

Hospitals and medical care

  • All hospital emergency departments in the Northern NSW Local Health District remain open, please don’t hesitate to present to your nearest hospital if you require urgent medical attention.

 

Elective Surgery

  •  All non-urgent surgery across NNSWLHD remains temporarily suspended as a result of the flood emergency and natural disaster. Affected patients are being advised and contacted to reschedule their procedures. Surgical services are being regularly reviewed, and we will provide a further update regarding non-urgent elective surgery next week. Emergency surgery is continuing.

 

COVID-19 Testing Clinics

  • COVID-19 testing clinics at Lismore Base Hospital, Byron Central Hospital and The Tweed Hospital are all now open. The COVID-19 testing clinic at North Street Grafton will re-open on Monday 14 March. Residents are encouraged to take a Rapid Antigen Test if they are unable to attend a COVID-19 testing clinic.

 

COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics

  • The Tweed Mall and Prince Street Grafton COVID-19 vaccination clinics have re-opened, while the Lismore clinic remains closed. The Vaccination team are contacting people whose appointments have been affected, and a new clinic location is being sought.

 

Coraki HealthOne

  • The Coraki HealthOne is temporarily closed. A further update will be provided early next week. Residents can phone the service on (02) 6683 9000 for advice and information.

 

Lismore Liver Clinic

  • The Lismore Liver Clinic has temporarily relocated to the Riverlands Drug and Alcohol Centre, 75 Hunter Street, Lismore. Please phone 6620 7539 or 0456 816 097.

 

Lismore Sexual Health Service

  • The Sexual Health Service office in Lismore remains closed this week. Clinics are operating from Byron Central Hospital and Clinic 145 Wharf Street Tweed Heads.
  •  Lismore residents are welcome to attend the above locations, or telehealth appointments can be arranged. Please phone 6620 2980 for bookings.

 

Needle and Syringe Program

  • All Needle and Syringe Program services are now reopened. Please call 0417 062 265 for advice or information.

 

Community Health

  • Lismore Community Health services have now resumed. However, services are being provided from multiple temporary locations. The Molesworth Street clinic remains closed.  Please call the number for the service you wish to access, and staff will direct your call:

Oral Health

  •  Oral Health clinics have reopened and are providing emergency and general services. Patients can contact the service through the Oral Health line on 1300 651 625, and those clients whose appointments had been affected are being contacted.

 

Pathology Services

  •  NSW Health Pathology’s collection centre at Lismore Base Hospital remains open for all pathology and blood tests. The centre is accessible via the Hunter Street entrance of the hospital campus, with ample, free parking available. The centre bulk bills and accepts all pathology request forms.
  • Hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 8am – 5pm (Saturday and Sunday by appointment). No appointment is needed for general tests (blood and urine), but please call ahead for tests that may take more time, such as glucose tolerance testing, heart ECGs, Holter monitoring, 24-hour blood pressure monitoring. Phone the centre on 6620 2900.
  • NSW Health Pathology’s collection centre in Conway Street, Lismore remains closed this week.
