EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Published: 22 Feb 2024

Pretty much every team at Ballina District Hospital was represented in recent ceremonies acknowledging staff who have worked with NSW Health for 10 plus years.

Director Clinical Operations, Lynne Weir presented staff with 10- and 15-years’ service, and the following day Chief Executive Tracey Maisey and Executive Officer/Director of Nursing Melanie Allan-Male presented staff with 20 and above years of service.

“It is a privilege to work alongside staff who have literally dedicated their lives to providing outstanding patient care here at Ballina Hospital,” Mel said.

Staff with 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 years of service received a certificate and a badge and shared some afternoon tea. Staff commented that it was nice to be recognised for their service which collectively added up to 1,760 years!

“It was great to have Lynne here presenting our awards,” said one award recipient.

“It was good to meet Tracey and to be presented with my years of service award by her,” said another.
