In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The BreastScreen NSW van visiting Coraki and Bonalbo

The mobile screening van is in Coraki today and tomorrow, 10 and 11 October, and is coming to Bonalbo on 16 – 18 October.

BreastScreen NSW provides free breast screening to women to support the early detection of breast cancer.

Emma Cronin, Acting Director of BreastScreen North Coast, says a regular breast screen is one of the most important things women can do for their health.

“Detecting breast cancer early increases your chance of survival while reducing the likelihood of invasive treatment, such as mastectomy or chemotherapy.

“Around 90 per cent of women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history. This is why breast cancer screening is so important for all eligible women.”

Emma says having the BreastScreen NSW van in Coraki and Bonalbo makes it easier for women to attend their recommended two-yearly screening. 

“Bringing these vital services to Coraki and Bonalbo means more local women can be screened. Life gets busy and we want women to make their health a priority.”

The BreastScreen NSW van is now located at Coraki Campbell HealthOne, Surry Street in Coraki and will be at the Bonalbo Multi-Purpose Service (MPS), Hospital Road in Bonalbo from Monday 16 October to Wednesday 18 October.

An appointment with BreastScreen NSW is free, takes less than 20 minutes and no doctor’s referral is needed.

•    all women are invited by BreastScreen NSW to screen every two years from age 50

•    any woman with a family history of breast cancer should discuss their specific needs with their GP

•    anyone with breast symptoms should contact their GP or health worker without delay.

The mobile screening van is equipped with a lift system to support women with health conditions or disability to have their mammogram. Women with additional needs are encouraged to let us know when booking their appointment.
