EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

MPS bus
Published: 21 Jun 2024

It has been a long time coming, but the MPS sites now have their own bus to transport aged care residents on local outings. Exciting times!

Peter Doyle, Nimbin MPS Nurse Manager, drove Nimbin MPS residents and select friends for the inaugural outing to the Tweed Regional Gallery at Murwillumbah.

While the bus will be garaged at Kyogle, the plan is that regular staff who travel between sites, such as the EO/DON and MPS educators, will drive the bus to the site they are visiting for the day, so that the residents and activities officers will have use of the bus during the day, before it is returned to Kyogle each night.

15 MPS staff from all four sites have received training on how to safely operate the wheel-chair hoist. They practiced using the lift and performing tasks like securing anchor points and the wheelchair, including attaching the seat belt.

“We look forward to bringing many more stories of the bus and its travels around the MPS network,” said Peter.
