EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Northern NSW Local Health District has a strategic commitment to building a sustainable future health workforce, and a key strategy is growing our own by supporting quality training programs for students.

In 2023, we hosted 1,604 students from 22 health science disciplines. These students utilised 2,676 placements offered across 10 health service facilities. This equates to an impressive 422,872 student placement hours supported by NNSWLHD’s dedicated clinical supervisors, educators and coordinators.

A huge thank you to all those who facilitated student placements in 2023!
