This year, NNSWLHD held its third annual Excellence in Allied Health Awards, recognising the contributions and achievements of Allied Health professionals across the District.
Our more than 650 dedicated Allied Health staff and support teams provide a range of services across the breadth of the Northern Rivers to patients and families at all stages of life and in all service delivery settings – in community health services and in patients’ homes, emergency departments, inpatient facilities and outpatient clinics.
This includes the following Allied Health professions:

- Early Career Allied Health Professional of the Year - Charisse Nash, Sexual Assault Counsellor (Social Worker), IPARVAN Lismore
- Allied Health Assistant/Technician/Support Person of the Year - Mark Lowe, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Clarence
- Allied Health Educator of the Year - Donna Napier, Radiographer, Tweed
- Allied Health Researcher of the Year - Kath Dower, Radiation Therapist, Lismore
- Allied Health Leader of the Year - Jane McGowen, Social Worker, IPARVAN
- Aboriginal Allied Health Professional of the Year (no eligible NNSWLHD nomination this year)
- Allied Health Professional of the Year - Donna Napier, Radiographer, Tweed
- Multidisciplinary Team of the Year (not summitted to the state awards) - Suicide Prevention Outreach Team, Tweed. This team comprises Lived Experience Peer Workers, Emergency Department Peer Worker, Occupational Therapist, Mental Health Clinician (CNS2), Social Workers and a Psychiatrist.
