Our Emergency Departments are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week:

The Community Paediatric Nurse provides nursing care, support and education to children and their families in the community.

Our services include care for a wide range of conditions, such as:

  • Procedural care – nasogastric tube and gastrostomy education and care; intramuscular and intravenous medicine administration; support with stomas
  • Discharge care (in conjunction with the Paediatric Acute Care service – PACS) – wound care (burns, pressure injury, surgical, impetigo, eczema)
  • Education – Asthma, Eczema (wet dressings), Midazolam administration for seizures
  • Continence assessment and support (bedwetting, constipation and encopresis)
  • Palliative care support
  • Care navigation for children with complex health needs

Residents of the Tweed and Byron Shires can access this service. Families can contact the service directly to self-refer, and we also accept referrals from GPs, Registered Nurses, hospitals, schools and allied health professionals.

Location: Based at Murwillumbah Community Health Centre, 8-10 Nullum Street, Murwillumbah
