Our Emergency Departments are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week:

The Community Paediatric Nurse provides nursing care, support and education to children and their families in the community.

Our services include care for a wide range of conditions, such as:

  • Procedural care – nasogastric tube and gastrostomy education and care; intramuscular and intravenous medicine administration; support with stomas
  • Discharge care (in conjunction with the Paediatric Acute Care service – PACS) – wound care (burns, pressure injury, surgical, impetigo, eczema)
  • Education – Asthma, Eczema (wet dressings), Midazolam administration for seizures
  • Continence assessment and support (bedwetting, constipation and encopresis)
  • Palliative care support
  • Care navigation for children with complex health needs

This service is available to residents of the Pottsville catchment area in the Tweed Shire. Families can contact the service directly to self-refer, and we also accept referrals from GPs, Registered Nurses, hospitals, schools and allied health professionals.
