Respiratory Services
Respiratory services are free programs for people with long term lung conditions. They include Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Respiratory education services.
Pulmonary rehabilitation
Pulmonary rehabilitation is an evidence-based program for people with long term respiratory conditions. It is run by a team that can include nurses, physiotherapists and exercise physiologists. It focuses on:
- Helping you feel less short of breath
- Improving how well you can move and exercise
- Improving how well you manage your health condition at home.
Pulmonary rehabilitation consists of:
- an individual assessment to work out the right program for you
- an 8-week program of exercise and education.
Pulmonary rehabilitation can be provided in a number of different ways to suit individual needs and circumstances.
Respiratory education services
Respiratory education services are provided by specialised respiratory nurses or physiotherapists.
They help people with long term respiratory conditions to improve how well they can manage their health at home.
Services include individual assessment, advice and education. These are individual appointments and can be provided over video or phone call where appropriate (link to virtual care page on website?).
