Occupational Therapy
Our Occupational Therapy team assesses people’s ability to carry out their usual activities of daily living and help overcome any difficulties they may be experiencing. People may find it harder to do their usual activities due to the aging process, illness, an accident, surgery, or a disability.
Our team provides assessment and treatment to both adults and children living in the Byron Shire. In working with adults, we focus on your occupational role, task performance and environment to improve and/or maintain your independence, safety and quality of life. Services are provided in hospitals, community health centres and in the home environment. Community urinary catheter care and education is also part of our service.
Our paediatric Occupational Therapists work with children who have difficulties with everyday living skills such as: fine motor skills (manipulating, grasping, drawing and writing), Visual perceptual skills (interpreting, using visual information to play, move around and read), sensory motor skills (using the body senses and postural skills).
