Congratulations on your new appointment with Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD). We have developed a New Employee Orientation and Induction Program that will provide you with important information about our organisation and about the NSW Health policies, procedures and mandatory training requirements.

Prior to Commencement

Please check your “Offer of Employment” letter sent to you via the NSW Health Recruitment system, this will be sent to the email account you provided in your application. 

The “Offer of Employment” letter will provide details of your commencement date. Please liaise with your manager for instructions on where to go on your first day.

Please bring your StaffLink Number (also known as Employee ID or Username) on your first day. This is required for your orientation process. The StaffLink Number will have been sent to you as part of the NSW Health Recruitment “Offer of Employment” email.


New Employee Orientation and Induction Program

Commencement (Day 1) –Corporate Orientation

On Day one of your employment, please present to your line manager. Your manager will organise for you to begin the My Health Learning NNSWLHD New Employee Corporate Orientation Pathway, which includes the Chief Executive Welcome Video and the NNSWLHD New Employee Corporate Orientation Module.

Clinical Orientation Program (Day 2 face-to-face) – held at Tweed, Lismore and Grafton

All clinical staff are also required to attend a Clinical Orientation Program. This is ideally held on day two of your employment. It is held at three sites: The Tweed Hospital, Lismore Base Hospital and Grafton Base Hospital. Please discuss with your manager to ensure you are registered to attend your clinical orientation program at a location near you.

Service/Department/Facility Orientation Program

As well as the Corporate and Clinical Orientation Programs, all staff are required to participate in service/department/facility orientation conducted by their manager. Your manager will work through a checklist with you to assist with your orientation into the local team, department and facility.


New Employee Information

Awards

Visit the NSW Health Remuneration and Conditions  and bookmark your AWARD. Your Award will contain valuable information such as leave entitlements, salaries, conditions of service and classification levels. Your award name and classification can be found in your Letter of Offer and Position Description.

Uniforms – ordering

NSW Health has a state-wide uniform policy PD2012_057 Uniforms Policy to provide NSW Health employees with practical and functional uniforms in a variety of styles. There are designated colours for each work stream to help patients easily identify employees irrespective of facility or Local Health District (LHD).

The online ordering system (the Total Apparel Management System or TAMS) is linked to payroll data.

You will need your StaffLink number (employee number) and password. For access to ordering please see the link below:

Note: Community based staff should speak with their Manager regarding the requirements to wear a uniform as some services do not require this.

You have started work – now what?

NNSWLHD IT Computer Access Set-up

Each employee has a unique log in to access the NNSWLHD IT and computer systems. To activate your log in you will need to contact the State Wide Service Desk on 1300 28 55 33. You will be asked to provide your StaffLink Number (Employee ID) which is required in setting-up your password and log in details.

Your StaffLink number is your Username for logging into all IT applications/systems. The StaffLink Number (Employee ID) will have been sent to you via the NSW Health Recruitment “Offer of Employment” email.

NNSWLHD Intranet – Work Support Centre

The Work Support Centre on the NNSWLHD Staff Intranet provides easy access to a wide range of IT Applications/Systems, some of which are outlined here:


StaffLink

StaffLink provides a streamlined and standardised human resource and payroll function for NSW Health staff. You can manage your personal and pay information through Employee Self Service (ESS) – the secure online self-service function in StaffLink.

Health Roster

Health Roster is the state-wide rostering system for NSW Health. You can access Health Roster via your local intranet – login to Health Roster using your eight digit StaffLink number and password.
