EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000). It’s a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For other urgent medical issues, go to an Emergency Department.

Our Emergency Departments are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week:

Riverlands Inpatient Withdrawal Unit is a specialised unit located next to Lismore Base Hospital that provides a supervised medicated withdrawal service for individuals over the age of 18 who are substance dependant.

Individuals requesting an admission into the unit will need to be assessed by the Riverlands Central Intake team.

The 10-bed unit is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by nursing staff. Medical Officers are on site during normal business hours and are available on call after hours including weekends and public holidays.

All admissions into the unit are voluntary, with admissions generally being from five to seven days.

Education groups, discharge planning, and referrals to other services are provided during your stay.

The unit is smoke free in line with the NSW Health Smoke-free Health Care Policy. Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) is available for all patients.

Individuals seeking withdrawal assistance can contact the Riverlands Intake Team directly. Referrals are also accepted from a range of other services such as GP’s, other health professionals, and non-government agencies.
