The Tweed Hospital – Coronary Care Unit

The Coronary Care Unit was opened at The Tweed Hospital in August 2006. It comprises of 5 hard-wired monitored beds with facility for mobile Telemetry monitoring. Patients with a primary diagnosis of Acute Coronary Syndrome and who require advanced clinical assessment, arrhythmia recognition and emergency intervention are admitted to the CCU under the care of one of 6 Physicians. The unit is staffed by highly skilled nurses with specialist qualifications. They provide a team approach for the provision of comprehensive cardiac care in a comfortable, safe environment.

  • General Visiting Hours: 2.00pm-8.00pm (NSW Times)
  • Patients are admitted to the Coronary Care Unit from the Emergency Department. All patients admitted to the unit are reviewed by the Cardiac Rehabilitation specialist nurses and encouraged to attend the Exercise Program and the 6 Week Cardiac Rehabilitation Program
