A Healthy Environment

Environmental health hazards in the environment on the North Coast can be from various sources including domestic, industrial, agricultural and/or naturally occurring sources.

Hazards could be from microorganisms, chemicals or radiation in our soil, water, air, food and wastes.

The North Coast Public Health Unit (NCPHU) and local Council Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) in consultation with NSW Ministry of Health’s Environmental Health Branch, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and part of the Office of Environment and Heritage determine and assess risks of such hazards and communicate that information to the public.

Further information on building and industry hazards please see the NSW Ministry of Health website.
