EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The use of technology to improve radiation therapy for cancer patients will be the keynote topic at Northern NSW Local Health District’s (NNSWLHD) Annual Public Meeting, to be held online at 2.00pm on Wednesday, 26 November 2025.

The meeting will feature presentations from NNSWLHD Chief Executive Tracey Maisey and Board Chair Peter Carter on the District’s achievements, challenges and strategic priorities.

A highlight of the event will be a presentation by Grace McMullen, NNSWLHD Chief Radiation Therapist, who will provide an overview of how technology is transforming radiation oncology to deliver faster, more precise and effective care for prostate cancer patients at the North Coast Cancer Institute in Lismore.

Ms Maisey encouraged community members to tune in to the virtual event to hear about the innovative new treatment and NNSWLHD’s progress and future directions, including an update on the Grafton Base Hospital redevelopment.

“The Annual Public Meeting is a chance for us to share our year’s performance, achievements, and future plans,” Ms Maisey said.

“It’s also a great opportunity for people to ask questions and gain insights about local health priorities.”

Members of the community are invited to attend the virtual meeting and consider submitting questions ahead of time.

Attendance at this year’s virtual meeting is via Teams link, which is available on the NNSWLHD website.

For more information, to submit a question, or to have the Teams link sent to you directly, please email NNSWLHD-engagement@health.nsw.gov.au or phone (02) 6620 2217.
