Occupational Therapy

Paediatric Occupational Therapists work with children who have difficulties with everyday living skills. We provide early intervention for injury, illness or developmental delays or disability.

Skills which an occupational therapist can help with include:

  • fine motor skills – manipulating, grasping, drawing and writing
  • visual perceptual skills – interpreting visual information to play, move around and read
  • sensory motor skills – using the body senses and postural skills to regulate, pay attention, learn and play

We provide occupational therapy in individual or group sessions, and work closely with other health staff in the child therapy team to provide a family-centred approach.
