CHEGS

Community Health Education Groups –CHEGS, an initiative of Northern NSW Local Health District –Health Promotion, provides a range of low cost Gentle Exercise classes including Tai Chi/Qigong. CHEGS classes have been operating throughout the district for more than 30 years. CHEGS supports a network of accredited registered exercise professionals who run around 35 weekly classes across the Northern Rivers.

Stepping On

If you are an older person who has had a fall, or has a fear of falling this 8 week program is for YOU.

Stepping on provides information and education on how to help older people reduce their risk of falling. The group-based session run for two hours a week for seven weeks. The program is followed up by a refresher session three months later.

Heart Foundation Walking Groups are free community based walking groups which are led by voluntary members.

Get Healthy

The Get Healthy free information and coaching service was specifically set up to target people in rural and remote areas of NSW. It offers free nutritional and exercise advice to overweight people. You can also sign up for the free coaching sessions over the course of 10 phone calls over six months to help keep you motivated. The program is only available to people over the age of 18 who are NSW residents.

Qualified Get Healthy Coaches will provide information and ongoing health coaching and support to help you achieve your health goals.
