The clinic will be held over two days on Thursday 13 and Friday 14 May from 8.30am to 3.30pm, at the Bonalbo MPS, Hospital Road, Bonalbo.
The clinic will be offering the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, which is clinically recommended for people aged 50 and over as part of the Australian Government’s national vaccination program.
Northern NSW Local Health District Chief Executive, Wayne Jones, said the clinic is an added measure to support the community who do not currently have local access to a GP-led vaccination clinic.
“As part of our local COVID-19 response, we are working collaboratively with our partner organisations and general practitioners to ensure that our communities have access to vaccines in line with the rollout program,” Mr Jones said.
“The MPS plays an important role in providing health services to the Bonalbo and surrounding communities, so it makes sense to utilise the existing facility to provide this clinic.”
Given the relatively small number of residents in the local area, community members will not need to book to attend the clinic on the two days.
People should present to the clinic with their Medicare Card and list of any current medications, to discuss with the immunisation staff as part of the required pre-vaccination assessment process.
People should allow approximately 30-45 minutes for their visit.
The NSW Government allocated $1.6 billion to help tackle the virus in the 2020-21 Budget on top of the $1.3 billion allocated to the COVID-19 health response in 2019-20.
