Harm Reduction | Needle and Syringe Program

The Needle Syringe Program (NSP) is a public health measure aimed at reducing the spread of blood-borne viruses such as HIV, Hep B & Hep C among people who inject drugs (PWID).

Urbenville Harm Reduction Services include:

  • Free access to a range of injecting equipment, information, support, referral;
  • 24 hour fit pack vending machine located. Equipment available: 5 x 1ml pack; 4 x 5ml pack; 2 x wheel filters; 6 x 10 ml water ampules for injection. Due to COVID19 – all vending machine packs are currently subsidised ($1/pack).
  • 24-hour sharps safe-disposal bin at the NSP site.
  • Backup service for vending machine through Emergency Department.
