Maclean District Hospital Hospital – Hospital in the Home

An alternative to hospital service that provides acute type care in the home. Referrals are made via hospital medical officers. Hospital In the Home (HITH) patients are classified as inpatients. Treatments provided include intravenous antibiotics, pre-surgery treatments and complex wound dressings.

  • 8.30am – 4.00pm, 7 days a week
  • Any medical condition requiring further treatment and assessed as medically stable and appropriate to be managed in the home.
  • Potential clients for the HITH service need to be assessed by the HITH Registered Nurse and doctor to determine suitability for the program in line with service criteria including WHS issues, treatment required and medical governance arrangements.
  • Referral by inpatient facility, General Practitioner or Specialist
