EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000). It’s a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For other urgent medical issues, go to an Emergency Department.

Our Emergency Departments are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week:

The Pain Clinic is a purpose designed outpatient service for the management of patients with chronic non-malignant and cancer pain.

Physiotherapists – supervise graded exercise programs and pacing of activities, restoration of function and develop ways to perform activities despite pain.

Clinical psychologists – help you understand pain and its relationship with muscle tension, emotions, thoughts and behaviour. They provide strategies within a cognitive behavioural framework to improve sleep, change unhelpful thinking patterns, teach relaxation strategies, and to develop coping skills.

Nurse practitioners – pain assessments, education, medication advice and optimisation, and patient reviews. Liaise with doctors and other health care providers to provide advice and to optimise treatment.

Pain medicine doctors – provide medical assessment and medication optimisation. Provide advice and liaise with GPs to optimise treatment.

We provide:

  • education regarding evidence-based treatment options
  • multidisciplinary assessments
  • evidenced based medications.
How to access?
  • referral from a medical officer is required to access this service. This can be addressed to Dr Paul Cochrane, Dr Tim Scholtz or Dr Jignesh Parmar
  • all referrals must include relevant specialist reports and investigations.
When will I be seen?

Patients will be contacted as soon as we receive a referral to arrange an appointment within 30 days. Most patients will be invited to attend an Education Day which provides information about treatment options.
