Casino and District Memorial Hospital – Emergency Department

The Emergency Department provides an emergency care service 24 hours/7 days a week to the people of Casino and surrounding Districts. The unit is staffed 24 hours a day by on call Medical Officers, GP VMO’s, Locums and Nurses. On presentation to the Emergency department, the patient will be assessed by an Emergency Nurse and triaged.

  • 24 hours, 7 days a week
  • Cover to the ED is provided by GP VMO’s from 10.00pm-8.00am
  • Cover to the ED is provided by Locums from 8.00am-10.00pm
  • The Emergency Department provides a service to all members of the general public
  • Presentations by ambulance or self presentation
  • Emergency Care is care provision for urgent or life threatening conditions that cannot be managed by a local general practitioner
  • Patients are seen based on the Australasian Triage Scale which prioritises clinical management. It is important to understand that accessing the ED for non-urgent care is not the best care model for primary health care needs
