Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a combined and supportive approach to helping individuals with chronic lung conditions. Our specialist Respiratory Liaison Nurse provides individual respiratory assessment and education, with particular focus on functional impact and self-management education through action plans, inhaler technique, spirometry and pulmonary rehabilitation assessment.

Our Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is an eight-week group program involving multidisciplinary education on risk-factor modification, safe levels of activity, self-management and monitoring strategies. The exercise component includes a six-minute walk test monitoring, breathing exercises, low-moderate intensity aerobic and strengthening exercises, and gentle stretching. Participants in the program meet twice a week. You are welcome to re-attend if you require further support due to the nature of chronic disease. The program is suitable for those living with or at risk of lung disease and those recovering from medical or surgical intervention.
