Smoke Free Health Care

Smoking is the largest preventable cause of illness and death in Australia. Northern NSW Local Health District is committed to reducing exposure to tobacco by removing smoking from health service property, including outdoor areas. The Smoke Free Health Care Policy is our way of ensuring that the NSW Health Smoke Free Workplace Policy is implemented.

All Northern NSW LHD sites are Smoke Free Smoking is not allowed on health district grounds.

People may smoke at the boundaries of Health District facilities. If you do so, please be mindful about the negative environmental impacts of leaving cigarette butts on the ground. All urban streets have stormwater drains which carry butts to our waterways.
