- 8.30am-5.00pm (Mon-Fri)
- Limited Inpatient service from 8.30am-12.30pm on Saturday
The Tweed Hospital – Pharmacy DepartmentThe Pharmacy is located on the ground floor of the Clinical Services Building. Its main function is to provide pharmacy services to the hospital inpatient and outpatients.
Services are provided in two separate streams, being supply of medications and clinical pharmacy input into medication management from admission to discharge. Medications are dispensed to people attending hospital outpatient clinics and inpatients. Medications are also supplied directly to the ward areas into ward cupboards for common drugs. Clinical Pharmacists visit most wards daily (Monday to Friday). They will advise you on your medications.
They check all medication orders for appropriate prescribing and dosage, any interactions with other drugs and monitor your laboratory results and how these affect your medications. They will ask you whether all your medications have been put on your medication chart. To help ensure that all your medications are prescribed and all details are accurate you will be asked what medicines you are taking at admission.
So please bring an updated list of your medicines (including those bought at supermarkets or health food shops) and /or ALL your medicines (in their original labelled containers) to hospital with you. You can give your own medicines to the nurse for safe keeping during your hospital stay which will be returned to you on discharge. The pharmacists will also discuss any new medications with you and provide information leaflets. You can request to speak to a pharmacist to discuss anything medication related. Just ask a nurse and they will arrange this
