Murwillumbah District Hospital – Emergency DepartmentThe Emergency Department provides 24 hour service, 7 days a week, which is staffed by members of the Fellowship of the Australian College of Emergency Medicine, Career Medical Officers, Locum Medical Officers and Residents from Tweed Heads Emergency Department. The department provides Emergency care for all presentations. After consultation in the Emergency Department, the patient will be either discharged, admitted to Murwillumbah Hospital or transferred to a larger facility for management.
- The Emergency Department provides a service to all members of the general public
- Presentations by ambulance or self presentation
- Emergency Care is care provision for urgent or life treatening conditions that cannot be managed by a local general practitioner
- Patients are seen based on the Australasian Triage Scale which prioritises clinical management. It is important to understand that accessing the ED for non-urgent care is not the best care model for primary health care needs
